Its true, might be the last expansion draft we ever see in our lifetimes. I don't see the NHL going to 33/34 teams any time soon. |

Early word is #SeaKraken have zeroed in on Brandon Tanev from the #pens.
Kraken already unfolding as tough to play against. With Brandon in the Kraken fold, looking forward to potential Tanev v. Tanev brother matchups in the Pacific |

I did not have them taking Tanev, though it sounds like that is a done deal.
I did have Larsson getting signed as the pick from Edmonton though. That one seemed like a no brainer... I just can't believe he signed so cheap... 4 years at $4M AAV. Would have loved to get him on the Pens for that. |

I think if they take Tanev that will put a strong halt to the “very strong focus on analytics team” |

GMRW Tanev is 29. And will be until NYE. “In his 30s” makes him seem far older |

Tanev will be a fan favorite in Seattle. Part of the business is putting entertaining players on the ice. Nearly every time Tanev hit the ice for the Pens he was really fun to watch. He'll definitely be missed on our roster.
He deserved to have his role expanded instead of pigeonholed by our foolishly stubborn coach. He's the player I wanted to lose THE LEAST.
Hexy has some work to do. Let's hope he doesn't compensate for this loss by giving horrible contracts to a couple of big stiffs. |

With all of the talk about Francis being quiet with other GM's, I do think he is going to follow the strategy of not taking cap dumps and going after cash strapped teams after the draft.
1. Carolina he will take Bean and then chase Hamilton hard in FA.
2. Tampa he will pick Foote (maybe Joseph) and then make Tampa pay to offload salary.
3. Won't take any albatross contracts like Price, Bishop, Duchene/Johanssen. Tarasenko is a maybe... Could be trade bait or could just be a star they could use.
4. I think the only "bad" contract they might take without being paid would be Henrique. There aren't many center options out there and he is better and cheaper than Duch/Johan.
5. This draft will be all about setting themselves up for next year's free agency. While a lot of these guys will re-sign, if you could lure even a couple of these guys to Seattle it could really round out the top part of their lineup after one year of acquiring assets.
C - Bergeron, Barkov, Giroux, Zibanejad, Couturier, Trochek, Strome, Kadri **Malkin**.
W - Niederreiter, Domi, Kessel, Gaudreau, Hertl, Palat, Smith, Rust.
D - Parayko, Klingberg, Jones, Lindholm, Manson, Reilly, Nurse, Ekholm, **Letang**.

I feel like all 3 of those 4th line forwards could of excelled in roles in the top 9...

Definitely ok with Tanev being picked. Gaudreau and Zahorna looked like good 4th line players who could replace Tanev for cheaper. Tanev’s 3.5 mil cap space could go into resigning ZAR, Gaudreau, and Zahorna.
With Malkin being hurt, im ok with seeing how carter-Zucker mesh. Or even Zucker with ZAR and Blueger on the 3rd line for now for depth.

2- if they pass on Yanni Gourde I’d be fucckin shocked. Tampa will have no problem getting great assets back for him |

The Pens are going to be like watching paint dry if the Kraken do in fact choose Tanev. No reason to protect Carter or Malkin. Those two spots could have been used for McCaan and Tanev. Then you have Carter, Malkin, Tanev and McCaan coming back next year. Looks like the new regime is just go along guys. I liked Rutherford better. |

Seravalli now saying Dunn from STL. And McCann from Leafs is official. Dude…why even have the draft now? Finite amount of picks and the draft is 8 hours from now. Guess we don’t have to watch |

The NHL does a terrible job of this. I know the list had to be submitted earlier today. It should be sealed in Bettman and Daly’s offices. If the leaks are coming from the Kracken, they are killing their own Buzz and Francis is running a loose lipped ship |

Should they make a rule about it now? Like after the fact? Or is there a rule? No? Ya? |

SEA taking Gio, Larsson, Olekisak and Dunn. No way they take Petts.
I'd do the following trades:
Pettersson for Ritchie (Long pants player that will likely cost around McCann's cap hit)
Zucker for Austin Wagner (This is more of a dump while getting a physically capable player who is so so at hockey).
This gives the Pens the grit they want. Wanger is an OK player to replace Tanev at less than half the price. Frees up enough money to fill things out with a decent winger
